Lornit Infusion

Composition: Each 10 ml contains: L-Ornithine-L-Aspartate 5 gm.

Indications: Treatment of associated conditions and sequelae of diseases with impaired hepatic detoxification (e.g. cirrhosis of the liver), when there are symptoms and signs of minimal or overt hepatic encephalopathy; especially for the treatment of incipient loss (Precoma) or clouding of consciousness (coma).

Adverse events: Nausea and vomiting.

Contraindications: Renal Failure. Serum creatinine should not be >3 mg per 100 ml

Dosage and administration:

1. On the first day: Depending on severity of the condition between 8to 20 ampoules (40-100 g) in divided doses. Satisfactory result wereobtained when 8 ampoules (40 g) was used in the first quarter of theday, followed by 4 ampoules (20 g) in each of next three quarters(i.e. 40 gm. – 20 gms – 20 gm – 20 gm).
2. From 2nd day onwards 8 ampoules per day.
